Ebony Dots & Dashes
Mrs. Georgia Henderson called early Wednesday morning to check up on me. She had sent a card earlier, but she had to hear my voice to see if I was still on board. We had a good chat.
Mrs. Janice Hayes came and spent the day with me on Tuesday. It had been a while since she had been to visit. I look forward to her visits as she is a very good person to talk to.
Well, the rains came. Some one said to me, "I wish it would stop!" I said, "God is doing his thing. You beg for rain, then you beg for it to stop. God made it and you. If you don't like the rain here, move to one of the states that have droughts."
A group of Miller Countians traveled to Seminole County last Sunday afternoon, to St. Johns A.M.E. Church. Mrs. Selina Elijah preached her initial sermon. Her subject, "Which church are you?" was brought from Revelations 1-1-12. She did a beautiful job describing the real church of Christ.
Rev. L.E. Moore, the former pastor of Beulah A.M.E. Church, was able to attend the services. He is the senior member of the Moore family. It was good to see the family in attendance.
Ms. April Reynolds came Saturday and spent time with her family. She is serving in Norfolk, VA. Her girls are staying here. Being away from her kids got to the point that she needed a hug. So she came and visited the weekend. They were as glad to see her as she was to see them.
Mrs. Georgia Burr and grandson, Terry, spent last weekend with family.
Ms. Rhonda Shay Roberts had a sudden attack last Sunday on her way from the services at St. John. She spent several hours at the emergency room in Donalsonville Hospital but was released, and she came home Sunday night. Hopefully she will continue to improve. She gave us a scare.
James Jackson Jr. was admitted to the hospital in Donalsonville last week. He is one of my hardheaded kin. The doctors have told him time and time again to quit smoking. He won't. But maybe this time he will quit, if he wants to keep on being with the rest of us hard-heads.
Mrs. Waver Fountain will be going to the hospital in Albany on August 25, for treatment. Your prayers are needed.
Birthdays for August: James Miller, August 27; LaLa Hopson; August 26; Shaquill Battle, August 22; and Linda Smart August 31. Many returns of the day.
