Vehicle Accident

On August 8th Jeffery J. Jones was traveling North on Dubose Road at a high rate of speed. Jones was actively fleeing from law enforcement vehicles. Jones lost control of his vehicle while traveling in the soft dirt on Dubose Road. As a result, Jones entered the West ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn once before coming to an uncontrolled final rest in the middle of Dubose Road, facing west.

On August 13th Brandon Alan Mathis was traveling West on Donley Road. Mathis lost traction and slid into the Northern ditch.

Suspended Registration

On August 17th Justin Young was driving North on Milford Street in a 1998 Nissan Altima Black in Color. Officer Chris Medina observed that the vehicle had an expired tag on it. Officer Medina then initiated a traffic stop. Upon running the tag through GCIC, the information came back that there was no valid insurance on the vehicle and that the registration was suspended. Young was then placed under arrest and transported to the Miller County Jail, where he was charged with expired tag, suspended registration and no insurance.

Damage to Property

On August 10th Officer Chris Medina was dispatched to Top Road in reference to someone throwing rocks at a vehicle. Miranda Butler, who advised that Sherina Bray and Charkelia Wade, came to where she was parked, and threw a gatorade bottle at her. Butler also advised that one of the two threw some rocks and damaged the driver's side mirror on her 2007 Suzuki Forenza. Upon talking to Sherina Bray, on the same date, she advised Officer Medina that she was riding South of Milford Street when someone threw some rocks at her vehicle hitting her passenger Charqelia Wade in the face and also hitting her windshield. Upon looking at her vehicle Officer Medina was able to locate some small rocks still on her vehicle and some small cracks in her windshield.

On August 14th Shannon Roseborough stated that while Gene Butler had her vehicle, a 1993 Honda Accord, to do some mechanical work to the motor. Her vehicle had been spray painted across the tag and trunk with black spray paint. Damage had also been done to the rear bumper where there was deep scrapes to the paint. Of- ficer Scott Cleveland followed Roseborough to the location on Fudge Street to take pictures of the damage.

Criminal Trespass

On August 9th Sharon Worsley advised Officer Scott Cleveland that her son had heard someone outside his window and he believed that he heard them turn the water on. At this time officers checked the surrounding area and were unable to find anyone in the area. Approximately thirty minutes later Officer Cleveland was dispatched back to the location where Worsley had found a kitten that belonged to her deceased behind her house. The kitten was believed to be drowned. At this time Officer Cleveland gathered all available information and cleared the area again. Officer Cleveland maintained constant patrol through the area to check for the suspect's possible return.

Driving While

Unlicensed

On August 14th Officer Brad Cox was directing Southbound vehicles around a major traffic accident. Officer Cox observed a white Toyota Van disobey his command, and then enter the Southbound lane heading straight toward the accident sight. Officer Cox then pursued the van at that time and pulled it over near the sight of the accident. The driver, Nestor Marcial Vargas, provided a Mexican driver's license and no passport. Officer Cox then ran Vargas' name and date of birth through GCIC to determine if he had a legal driver's license. Dispatch advised that there was no record found that would indicate that Vargas was a licensed driver. Officer Cox then placed Vargas under arrest at that time and called for a wrecker to remove his van from the roadway. Vargas was then transported to the Miller County Jail where he was issued citations for failure to obey officers directing traffic, and driving while unlicensed.

Lost or Stolen Cell Phone

On August 12th Trudie Michele Gibson made contact with Officer Brad Cox at the Miller County Sheriff's Office, in reference to a lost or stolen cell phone. Gibson stated that her cell phone went missing two days prior, and that she needed to file an incident report for the phone. Gibson stated that she could not remember the make or model of the phone, nor its serial number. Gibson stated that her service is with Verizon wireless. Gibson stated that the phone is valued at $350.00. Officer Cox advised Gibson to contact her service provider and have the service cut off to the phone. Officer Cox provided Gibson with the case number and advised her that a report would be made, and for her to report the loss to the provider as well.
