Drug bust made due to politics
The sheriff found the growing marijuana plants when he was out "politicking." On Tuesday, July 8, 2008, Miller County Sheriff Buddy Glass advised Chief Investigator Ben Nix of the location of marijuana growing at a residence in Colquitt. The sheriff had seen what he suspected to be marijuana growing in a bed around the home that he was "politicking" at.
Deputy Brad Cox met with Investigator Nix and also stated he had information on the same residence and that there were possible drugs inside the residence.
Investigator Nix, Josey and Deputy Dale Mitchell and Deputy Cox went to the residence where Investigator Nix made contact with Kristen Vanbibber who lives at the residence.
Investigator Nix told Ms. Vanbibber of the information they had received. They told her of the marijuana plant growing in the yard. Investigator Josey and Deputy Mitchell took pictures of the plant and took it in as evidence.
Investigator Nix ask Ms. Vanbibber for her consent to search the residence and consent was given.
There was a quantity of marijuana located at the residence and also scales, smoking devices, meth and paraphernalia, and also pots that had contained marijuana plants.
All items were taken into evidence. Warrants were taken on Kristen Vanbibber and Robert Knighton Jr. for manufacturing marijuana. Other warrants are still pending.
