Local MCREA Members attend State Convention

The Georgia Retired Educators Association celebrated their 50th anniversary during the state convention held May 6-8, 2008, at the Athens Classic Center in Athens. The four members attending from the Miller County Retired Educators Association were President Beverly Richardson, President-elect Suzanne Wells, Past President Marian Walker and Bobby Richardson. They were pleased to donate two cedar bluebird boxes for the convention, one for a door prize and one for the silent auction. The bluebird boxes were built by Mr. Bill Spooner's FFA students at MCHS, and the materials for the boxes were supplied by Mr. Luther Clearman. At the convention, MCREA received awards in the following categories: Handbook Participation, Unit of Excellence, Newsletter Participation, Scholarship Participation, Public Relations, GREA Foundation, and Membership Percentage Increase. Miller County REA was established in 1981 and has 47 members for the 2007-2008 year.
