Mr. Thurman Ray Grant, age 79, of Colquitt died Friday, May 30, 2008, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

Mr. Grant was born November 20, 1928, in Seminole County. He was a member of Bellview Free Will Baptist Church. He owned and operated B & G Oil Company for 32 years and was a veteran serving in the Army and Navy and a life time member of the William M. Wilson VFW Post #6046 and a member of the Gerald Grow Post #165 American Legion.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 1, at 4:00 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Poppell officiating. Interment followed in Colquitt City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Donald Brooks, John Grant, Tommy Wade, Jimmy Heard, Sam Dunn and Tim Moore.

Darryl Heard served as honorary pallbearer.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Louise Brooks Grant, Colquitt; one daughter, Sharon Daniels, and husband, Allen, Colquitt; one granddaughter, Alesha Fletcher, and husband, Jason, Bainbridge; one greatgrandson, Grant Fletcher; three sisters-in-law, Clara Nell Heard, Bainbridge, Doris Grant, Gwendolyn Brooks, both of Colquitt; and two brothers-in-law, Lamar Brooks and Perry Brooks, both of Colquitt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Vera Grant, two brothers, John A. Grant and Jack Grant; and one sister, Margaret Kreeger.

Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
