Dear Terry,

This is a very important community notice. I live in the neighboring county of Seminole, and over the past few months, I have been reading and inquiring about a coal fired energy plant that is to be built in Early County. While most everyone thinks that this will be good for our struggling rural communities by creating much needed jobs, there is a very tragic downside to this plant being built. When this coal fired energy plant is built, there will be tremendous health hazards that will have a devastating impact on our health and environment.

Pleaseconsider the following factsof environmental and health hazards that this coal fired energy plant will bring to our communities. Coal fired power plants emit mercury. Mercury is a dangerous and potent toxin that contaminates fish and causes a variety of health problems, including damage to the nervous system of unborn children. Most of the mercury emissions from coal-fired plants land within 30 miles of the plant. One drop of mercury can contaminate a 25-acre lake to the point where fish are unsafe to consume. Mercury will never degrade in the environment, and it accumulates in fish and sediment over time. LS Power (the company responsible for building this plant) is proposing to emit over 220 pounds of mercury per year which is an astonishing amount considering the dangers. Coal fired power plants also emit a variety of other toxic substances including sulfur dioxide and sulfuric acid mist.

I am asking everyone in the communities of Early, Mil ler, and Semino le counties to become aware and/or involved as to what they can do to block the construction of Longleaf Energy Associates' new coal fired power plant in Early County, Georgia. This isanextremely important issue that could leave all of us and our future generations in a very unsafe and unhealthy environment. If you would like more information about this subject matter and how it will affect our community or to see what you can do, please go to the web site address www. friendsofthechattahoochee. org.

Dear Terry,

Kenn and I feel very fortunate to live in an area where when trouble strikes there is a hospital staff that swings into action.

The emergency room team on duty the night of April 9 when Kenn had a massive heart attack did a great job getting him ready to be transported by ambulance to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Family, friends, and fans have made it easier for Kenn on his road back to good health.

Alltheprayers by everyone have not been in vain! Please continue to pray for Kenn and me.

Terry, you can't know how much those pictures you made for us on Kenn's January show at Emerald Lake mean. They are awesome.
Ever Grateful,
Barbara & Kenn
