MC Sheriff's Dept. holds presentation
11th and 12th graders listen as Investigator BJ Josey speaks On May 14, 2008, the Miller County Sheriff's Officepresented a program at Miller County High School.
The presentation was one of several offered in Miller County and surrounding county's by Sheriff Glass and the Miller County investigations unit.
The 11th and 12th grade students attended the presentation on drugs and alcohol abuse. The presentation was made by Chief Investigator Ben Nix, Investigator BJ Josey and Captain Shane Rathel.
The program started with describing the affects of alcohol abuse and the outcome of driving while intoxicated. The students were very interested in the Georgia laws that pertain to the way Georgia courts and laws deal with persons under the age of 21 that are found guilty of driving under the influence.
The students were shown slides of some wrecks that were alcohol related and the outcomes of the wrecks.
The presentation then went into drugs and the outcome of drug abuse.
There was also a slide show and videos of drug busts made in Miller County. The students interacted well with the information that they received and asked questions that were related to the topics.
Before the presentation was over, Captain Rathel gave a final speech to the students on drinking and driving. The sheriff's officewould like to thank the 11th and 12th grade students for the interest and good manners shown.
