Law Enforcement Reports
Public Intoxication
On May 17, 2008, city and county officers were dispatched to a residence on Grow Street. OfficerJason Wells stated that a black male was walking around the house and rang the doorbell, ran across the street and jumped in the ditch. When the officerarrived, the man had already left the scene. Thirty minutes later another complainant called and stated that a black man was walking in town, cursing and threatening to kill someone. Deputy BJ Josey, Captain Dan Stone and OfficerJason Wells located the man matching the description at Bush Street and Third Street. OfficerWells recognized the suspect as "Happy Jack" or
Willie Jack Stevenson. He was very intoxicated, cursing and unsteady on his feet. Stevenson was placed under arrest for public intoxication.
Vehicle Fire
On May 12, 2008, Kelly Jacobs, of Colquitt, stated that she was traveling north on Third Street when the vehicle she was driving stopped and started smoking. Jacobs stated the vehicle then caught firein the engine. The firedepartment arrived and handled the fire. Photographs were taken and no report of any injuries on scene.
Larceny
On May 15, 2008, OfficerChristopher Medina was dispatched to East Crawford St. to Road Runner Seafood, in reference to a stolen vehicle tag. When the officerarrived on scene, he spoke with
Amy Stovall of Colquitt, who said the tag on a 2004 International Reefer truck was stolen.
Larceny
On May 16, 2008, Officer Hollis Smith responded to Washington Street and spoke with Lisa Roseborough of Colquitt, who said she was missing a bottle of hydrocodone she had filled May 13. She noticed it was missing Thursday, May 15, around 2:30 p.m. She also said a pair of Jordan tennis shoes were missing that belonged to her son. The case was turned over to the investigation department.
Accident
An accident occurred on Highway 91 South and Highway 27. Kathryn Diana Locke of Albany was traveling north on Highway 91 South in her 2004 Acura TL.
Christopher Blackmon of Colquitt was traveling north on Highway 91S in a 2003 Chevrolet C1500 pickup. Blackmon slowed down to enter Highway 27 when Locke bumped into Blackmon, causing a small dent. Locke was found at fault for following too closely. OfficerHollis Smith was the reporting officer.
Accident
An accident occurred May 17, 2008, at the IGA parking lot. OfficerJason Wells was called to the scene. He spoke with Christina Milnes Hall of Colquitt, who stated that she backed her 2002 Chevrolet Suburban into a pole, damaging the passenger's rear quarter panel. No injuries or other property damage was caused. Hall drove the vehicle away from the scene.
Theft by Taking
On Saturday, May 10, 2008, Deputy Mitchell was dispatched to Phillipsberg Road. Upon arrival, he spoke to Donna Godfrey, who stated that her eight-week-old dog had been stolen or lost. The dog was last seen around 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The dog is brown and white with a blue collar.
Criminal Trespass
On Friday, May 9, 2008, Deputy Mitchell was dispatched to Grady Cobb Road and spoke to Jack Parham, who stated that someone went into one of his trailers. Parham stated there wasn't anything missing, but the latch was broken. The scene was turned over to Investigator Josey.
Criminal Trespass
On May 13, 2008, OfficerBrad Cox was dispatched to J&J Millwright, in reference to an attempted break-in. The officer made contact with Mac McMullen, who stated that he went into his office and saw that someone had tried to pry into the front door. He also said he didn't know exactly when it occurred, and nothing appeared to be missing. There were tool marks on the door where it had been pried open, possibly with a screwdriver. Someone also tried prying the window open. McMullen was told that extra patrol would be conducted around his business. McMullen stated that if anyone is caught on the premises after hours, he would prosecute them.
Criminal Trespass
On May 12, 2008, Deputy Brad Cox and Deputy Dale Glover were dispatched to Grimsley Bridge Road. Deputy Cox found Tina McNeill on the property. McNeill had been told not to come onto the property. Robert Randall Herrin didn't want her arrested. She was advised by Deputy Cox and Deputy Glover not to return to the property or she would be arrested.
