Ebony Dots & Dashes
On May 17, Mrs. Edith Price's 10 children gave her a surprise birthday party. She was celebrating 72 years of life. Thanks to her family members and many friends who came out to help her celebrate her birthday.
Mr. Joseph Williams was given a surprise birthday party at the Miller County Middle School May 5. He retired after working 45 years on the job. May his retirement be one of joy.
Services at Bethel M.B. Church last Sunday were super. Ms. Gayle Grimsley was the speaker for the Women's Day program sponsored by Ms. Wanda Grimsley. It is good to see the young ladies of the church stepping up and filling the shoes of their elders. Congratulations, Wanda. You did a good job.
Mrs. Vickie Dunnell and daughter Gwen worshipped with the Cypress Pond F.W.B. Church in Boykin last Sunday. They said that they had a good time.
Sunday morning I left for Sunday School at my church, and I forgot to take my third leg. I made it all right with the help of my friends.
My number one granddaughter in Sweden called me Sunday afternoon, and we had a good old gab fest, got caught up on some of the past happenings. It was a good phone visit. She and family were well.
Why do those who have boom box's in their vehicles wait until Sunday morning to turn them up so loud? They will pass by churches where the pastor is delivering a spiritual message, disturbing the services. They should at least respect the church. It is usually the last place you will be before a hole in the ground. It would be good to see you inside of the church while you can walk in.
Congratulations to all of those who finished 12 years of learning. Make good use of your education and add to it. It is good to make 12 years, but better still to continue studying.
Revival services will begin on Monday night, May 26, at 7:30 p.m. nightly at New Salem F.W.B. Church. The Rev. Willard Weston will be the speaker for the week. Rev. Jordan Arline III is the pastor. You are asked to come out and hear this God-sent man. Your soul will be blessed.
One of my neighbors called me Monday morning to inquire about a neighbor who had lived at 10-D for several years. She hadn't known that that neighbor had moved to a one bedroom apartment. She was very upset. I calmed her down, and she was happy that she had just changed buildings. All is well. We are just nosy neighbors who care.
Had a call from Mrs. Alyce Edwards Sunday afternoon. We chatted and were interrupted, but we got back to our conversation. All was well at her house.
