Golf team has successful season

On April 14, the girls traveled to Waycross to play in their region tournament. Seven teams turned out to compete at The Lakes golf course. The Lady Pirates finished a few strokes behind Ware Magnet and Echols County to take third place. Brooke Widner shot a 104 for the day. This turned out to be the third lowest score earning her a spot on the 1A All Region Team for the third consecutive year.

On April 21, MCHS had the opportunity to host the Region 1A Boys golf tournament. The tournament started at 9:30 a.m. with nine teams attending. The tournament went well; players and coaches alike commented on the great condition of the course. Miller's boys did well, turning in scores of 84 - Wilkin Lane, 87 - Andy Poff, 95 - Dustin Mathis, and 97 - Patrick Haverty. This earned them third place, just four strokes behind Baconton Charter, with Bacon County finishing first.

This year the Pirates will be graduating several seniors that include Mindi Merrit, Andy Poff, Anthony Tabb, Justin Chandler, and Dustin Mathis. The seniors and the rest of Pirates would like thank the staff at Crooked Oak for making their season a success.
