We are taught all of our lives to win and not lose, but in the case of the Weight-A-Way Contest that has been going on, it paid to lose.

For the past 12 weeks, over 125 participants and 23 teams went to the nursing program building next to the hospital each Thursday to get their individual results of a gain or a loss in the Weight-A-Way program.

As each participant weighed in each Thursday, if they lost weight, they helped themselves and their team. If they didn't weigh in, they paid $5.00. If they gained a pound or any part of a pound, they paid $1.00 per pound or part.

The weight loss program started with the officialweighin

on February 7, and ended on May 1. In most cases, there was no doubt who was in the program. Some of them lost a lot, and they really show it.

Another said, "I hadn't seen my toes in months, and my stomach has shrunk."

The amazing part of the Weight-A-Way program, each participant is on his/her own. There is no diet; it's all up to the individual to do what it takes to drop those unwanted, dangerous, unhealthy pounds with eating right and exercise.

"It works, and the program and teams helped me to do what is right. It isn't diet, it's a new way of life that can give more years that are enjoyable," another participant stated.
