Police Reports Accident On December 12, 2007, Terry Toole was backing out from the west parking lot at the Methodist Church while Mrs. Brittany Clarke was traveling North on S. Third Street. Mr. Toole backed into the side of Mrs. Clark causing damage to both vehicles. Mr. Toole stated he did not see Mrs. Clark while he was backing due to vehicles parked beside his vehicle. Mrs. Clark stated that she did not see Mr. Toole backing out of the parking space. No injuries or citations were issued. On December14, 2007 Carolyn G. Smith was backing out of the parking lot at Roadrunner Seafood and did not see a 1994 Chevrolet C1500 truck that belonged to Charles Henry Holmes and backed into it. Mr. Holmes stated that he was inside and did not see what happened. On December 14, 2007 David Payne, Jr. was traveling east on Whites Bridge Road, and James Edward Cook was traveling west on Whites Bridge Road. Mr. Payne was traveling on the wrong side of the road and made contact with Mr. Cook's vehicle. On December 16, 2007, Justin Erick Whitaker was traveling south on Enterprise Road when a deer entered into the path of his vehicle. The deer struck near the front left marker light and spun around and also hit the driver's side fender and door. On December 12, 2007, Michael D. Morris was traveling north on Hwy. 91 South when a deer ran out in front of the vehicle striking the driver's side front. On December 12, 2007, Scotty Stewart Pitts Jr. was traveling north on Three Notch Road. Mr. Pitts stated that due to the fog he could not see the roadway and went into the ditch. There was damage to the front and side of the vehicle. On December 13, 2007, Deputy Brad Cox was dispatched to the Pirates Cove Restaurant in reference to someone striking a deer in the county. Upon arrival, OfficerCox spoke with Willie Carlton Griffin Jr. who stated that he struck a deer with his pick-up resulting in damage. Mr. Griffin stated that he was traveling south on Jeterville Road just south of Cleveland Road when a deer ran out in front of his vehicle. He stated that he struck the deer and drove to the restaurant. OfficerCox observed moderate damage to Mr. Griffin'svehicle and deer hair stuck to the front of Griffin's vehicle as well. OfficerCox then went to Jeterville Road after obtaining Griffin'sinformation and observed pieces of Griffin'svehicle lying in the roadway and also located the deer lying dead in the ditch as well. Larceny On December 12, 2007 OfficerLonnie Wade responded to Petro in reference to a gas driveoff. Upon arrival, the suspects were gone. OfficerWade then called dispatch to bolo for the suspect vehicle. While talking to the witness, Chief Deputy Williams made contact with the vehicle and escorted them back to the store. After identifying the suspects, Johnathan Ford and Teresa Cuikas, Officer Wade then escorted them to the Police Department where they were placed under arrest and transported to the county jail. On December 11, 2007, Monique Kyles came to the police department and reported that her son's green mountain bike was stolen off her front porch. Mrs. Kyles stated that the bike had been taken in the past but had been returned. Mrs. Kyles described the bike as a green, with white writing, boy's mountain bike. OfficerKenneth Kirkland would make a report, and the police department would be looking for the item. Scam On December 11, 2007, Lisa Cowart came to the Police Department and reported that she received a fraudulent check in the mail on the same day. Ms. Cowart stated that she received the check for $4880.00 made out to her along with some survey papers. Ms. Cowart stated on December 12, 2007, she took that check to her bank to verify it at which time, the bank stated it was fraudulent. Ms. Cowart stated that upon returning back to work, she contacted the initial bank and then contacted the real bank. Ms. Cowart stated when she contacted the real bank, they were familiar with the fraudulent checks and advised her to turn the check over to the police department. The check is described as a cashier's check, made out through the United Republic Bank, Omaha, Nebraska in the amount of $4880.00, Check 32761435. Marijuana On December 14, 2007, OfficerHollis Smith was on a traffic network road check. A dodge with a white male pulled up to the road check. The driver, Nickolas J. Verna had a very strong odor of alcohol coming from the inside of his vehicle as well as himself. Mr. Verna refused the breath test and was placed him into the back seat on the patrol car. During the search of the vehicle, Officer Smith found two open Keystone Light beer cans and a green leafy substance and rolling papers. Mr. Verna was transported to the jail and asked again if he would give a breath test, and he refused again. Verna was booked. |
