Santa is in town!
By MCL Staff Writer

These two youngsters tell Santa what they want for Christmas.
This is not the Christmas edition even though it looks like Christmas. Next week will be one of our largest editions that we print each year. However, we would not be newspaper folks if we didn't report at least a few of the Santa sightings around Colquitt this past week.

Santa Claus, or some of his very special elves, were seen around Colquitt this past week, taking notes on what the boys and girls, as well as what some of the grown folks, want for Christmas.

Saturday morning, Santa arrived at the public library to have breakfast with a group of very special young people.

All the little ones were dressed in their Christmas attire, waiting to tell the jolly 'ole' fellow what they wanted for Christmas.

After having breakfast, coloring pictures of Santa and his reindeer, and decorating a Christmas tree, the moment they had all been waiting for arrived---the jolly ole man dressed in his red, furry suit.

After visiting with each of the children as they were having breakfast, Santa invited everyone to come and sit on his lap.

I think I might like this man in the red suit.
Most of the children confirmedthat they had been either good or very good. They each told Santa their desires for Christmas morning. This writer heard several of the kids tell the truth when asked if they had been good.

One said, "Sometimes!" Another said, "Nope!" Santa replied, "Well, at least you are honest."

Some of the children even told Santa what to bring their daddy. "Bring my daddy a gun," one little fellow told Santa. "A big one!" he said, with his big brown eyes opened wide.

As they finished their visit with Santa, each was given

bag to fillwith apples and candy from Santa's bag.

"I'll see you all on Christmas Eve," Santa yelled as he drove out of sight. "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!"
