One vehicle accident claims life of Donalsonville woman

The 1999 convertible Mustang received extensive damage.

A one vehicle accident occurred Thursday night, December 6, on Three Notch Road in Miller County.

The accident resulted in one fatality and one person being seriously injured.

Kendra LaDawn Martin, 30, of Donalsonville was driving a 1999 Ford Mustang convertible north on Three Notch Road near Camilla Road.

Martin failed to maintain the lane of traffic and weaved off the east shoulder of the road. The driver attempted to steer back onto the roadway but lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle traveled off the east shoulder and struck a culvert with the undercarriage. The vehicle rolled onto its top and came to rest approximately 24 feet off the road.

Ms. Martin was partially ejected from the vehicle. A passenger, Christine Martin, age 52, of Donalsonville, and mother of the driver, was trapped inside the vehicle.

The Miller County Sheriff's Department, Miller County EMS, and Miller County Fire Department were called to the scene.

Both Jaws of Life were used to remove the passenger from the vehicle because of the extensive extrication that was needed.

AirHeart was called to the scene of the accident, but after the victim was removed from the vehicle, she went into cardiac arrest. She, along with the her daughter, the driver, were both taken to the Miller County Hospital for their injuries by the Miller County EMS Service and also by the AirHeart paramedics who rode with them to the local hospital.

The senior Ms. Martin died a short time later. Kendra was life flighted around 11:00 p.m. to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where she is receiving treatment for internal injuries she received in the accident.

The driver of the vehicle was cited for failure to maintain lane. Col. Kyle Duke of the Georgia State Patrol was the investigating officer.
