      As I get older, somehow my deep affection for flowing waters grows ever deeper. Water that moves of its own accord - be it creek, river, or babbling brook - does something to me, and for me, that still water cannot. Not, mind you, that a pristine pond or pretty lake doesn't have its appeal.

      Miller County New Vision celebrated Red Ribbon Week recently. The children from the center hung red bows on the doors of several businesses around town.

      The Brookwood Warriors came to Damascus Friday with a perfect 9-0 record and holding the #1 spot in the state coaches' poll. Brookwood proved they well deserved the accolades as they used their superior speed to break big play after big play on their way to defeating SGA, 63-42.

MCHS FFA Floriculture team competes
      The Miller County FFA Floriculture Teams recently competed in the Albany Fair FFA Floriculture Career Development Event. The event was held at Albany Fair Grounds in Albany, on October 30, 2007. Team members of team one were Matthew Tully, Dustin Mathis, Justin Ogletree, and Lejym Kelley.

Free workshop to be offered at BC
      Bainbridge College (BC) freshmen in the Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) program will present a free smoking cessation workshop 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Main Campus Student Center. ADN student Lauren Hagins of Colquitt chairs the project.

      Dr. Jeff Gibbs of Abraham Baldwin College (ABAC) in Tifton will interview Nov. 15. Dr. Miriam Dittman of Georgia Perimeter College/Clarkston will interview Nov. 16. During their visits each candidate will make a presentation in response to the question, "What would you bring to this position?
