The John Hinson Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament is to be at Bainbridge Country Club Nov. 19. Proceeds will go to establish the John Hinson Memorial Scholarship of the Bainbridge College Foundation.
Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. with lunch at noon. The tournament, a four-man scramble, will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $50 per player. Cost to sponsor a hole is $100 per hole - the deadline is Nov. 2.
Individuals or businesses interested in sponsoring a hole for the tournament and those who want to play in the tournament should call 229-248-2503 and speak with Spencer Stewart, assistant director of admissions at Bainbridge College (BC), who is coordinating the effort for the BC community.
"John Hinson, a friend to everyone he knew, was serving as principal of Bainbridge High Westside Performance Learning Center when he met with his untimely death on June 2, 2007," said Stewart, noting Hinson was 34 years old. "During his three years at BHS Westside, he was responsible for hundreds of youth staying in school and graduating."
"He was happy, positive, and looked for the best in
everyone," he said. Hinson, the husband of Shelly and the father of Cole, Jack,
and Marlee, was an administrator, a teacher, a friend, and a mentor, Stewart
said.
