Pataula Drug Task Force makes arrests

On Thursday, September 27, 2007, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Colquitt Police Department was called to the shoplifting report at the Pic-N-Save on Highway 27 South, Colquitt.

Upon the arrival of Assistant Chief Jason Wells and Patrolman Hollis Smith, the officers made contact with Robert Wesley Smith III and Heidi Nicole Fletcher. The officers noted that Smith had attempted to steal Red Devil Lye, and Smith was placed under arrest for shoplifting. Assistant Chief Wells noted that this is a common item used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine and contact the Pataula Drug Task Force.

The task force arrived at the location and while there, consent was given to search the vehicle the two subjects were traveling in. The officers noted that other materials, used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine, were inside the vehicle.

Both subjects were transported to the Miller County Jail for processing. As a result of the interview of the suspects, a search warrant was executed at 5879 Rock Pond Road, Iron City. The Task Force, along with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office and Miller County Sheriff's Office, entered the location and Miller County's K-9 Unit alerted in the location where the subjects slept and officers located methamphetamine, marijuana and items used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Both subjects will be charged in Miller County for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. Smith will also face shoplifting charges.

Both subjects will be charged in Seminole County with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of methamphetamine.
