HOSA, Health Occupations Students of America, is a student organization whose mission is to promote career opportunities in health care and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA members have the opportunity to share experiences with other people involved in the health professions. Members build confidence in their own ability to develop skills that will lead to successful employment in the health field.
This year, Health Occupations teacher Mrs. Georgia Ann Israel decided to bring HOSA to the Health Occupation students of Miller County High School. This is a new charter, and the students who join this year will be remembered as the first charter members in this chapter of HOSA. On Wednesday, August 22, students interested in HOSA attended a meeting to discuss the duties of HOSA members and HOSA dues, which are $18 due on September 15. During the meeting, I, Deanna Mason, was appointed chairman of the HOSA Club. The first fund-raising event was discussed; Krispy Kreme donut sales sheets were passed out to students. Also, the date for election of officers was set for September 13. In October, a few students will be attending a HOSA leadership conference at Jekyll Island.
As HOSA continues to grow, members will be
keeping you updated on meetings and events that take place involving the club.
