Alcohol and our children

I am not trying to change the world with this, nor am I trying to keep people from buying or drinking alcohol, but I have 11 grandchildren, and if this helps prevent just one of them, or one of your children or grandchildren from being killed by a drunk then it has served its purpose. We hear and see on television everyday in the news how some entire family or innocent children have died by the careless hands of a drunk driver or have been molested or killed by someone who claims they can handle it when they drink. Alcohol is far worse than marijuana, heroine, cocaine or any other so-called social drug. The only difference in it and them is alcohol is legal, and our government officials want the tax money they collect from it. We must stand up and make it known we are tired of seeing our children and grandchildren die at the hands of drunks and make it less accessible and less enticing. Our government has already banned all tobacco products from all television advertisements, billboards, restaurants and many public areas but have left this highly addictive and extremely dangerous drug alone. Why is it that this highly dangerous drug is sold in restaurants encouraging its use and yet we cannot smoke after a meal with a cup of coffee ??

On behalf of the children and grandchildren (future and current) of the United States of America, I ask you to write to your elected government officials to have all beverage advertisements containing alcohol (beer, whiskey, Wine etc.) (not to include medicine advertisements) removed entirely from our television viewing, and removed from all grocery store, convenience store shelves and restaurants.

Alcohol is sold in plain view and within reach of our children and grandchildren and is touted as making people look cool and more interesting if they drink alcohol. We all know that drinking alcohol only makes people silly and look stupid by falling down and passing out or becoming violent in behavior.

3.) Alcohol is a major contributor of spousal abuse.

4.) Alcohol is a major contributor of assault.

5.) Alcohol is a major contributor of rape.

6.) Alcohol is a major contributor of child abuse.

7.) Alcohol is a major contributor of child molestation.

7.) Alcohol is a major contributor in robbery.

8.) Alcohol is highly prevalent in high school and college aged children.

9.) Alcohol cost the taxpayer's billions of dollars every year in court costs.

10.) Alcohol cost the taxpayer's billions of dollars in higher motor vehicle insurance premium costs each year.

11.) Alcohol cost the taxpayer's billions of dollars each year in increased medical insurance costs.

12.) Alcohol causes low birth weights.

13.) Alcohol causes birth defects.

14.) Alcohol is a major contributor of depression.

15.) Alcohol is a cause of cirrhosis of the liver, pancreatitis, cardiomyopathy, immune disorders, various types of cancers, neurodegeneration.

It is time to stop or at least slow down the insanity which has become prevalent in our society.
