CLIFFORD EUGENE BARTON

Mr. Clifford Eugene Barton, age 76, of Donalsonville died Tuesday morning, August 28, 2007, at his residence.

Mr. Barton was born in Lawrence County, Tennessee, on February 3, 1931, to the late James and Mary Rogers Barton. He worked for many years in the construction industry. He was a member of Reynolds- Chapel United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 30, at 3:00 p.m. at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. Edwin Willis officiating. Interment followed at Friendship Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Clifford Watson, Schley Ricketson, Harold Coppinger, Milton Wisham, David Murkerson, and Neal Murphy.

Survivors include his wife, Gayla Barton, Donalsonville; four sons, Steve Barton and wife, Diane, Charlotte, NC, Paul Cross and wife Kelly, Atlanta, Charles Cross Jr. and wife, Vicky, Atlanta, Jack Barton; one daughter, Gail Collins and husband, Mike, Knoxville, TN; two brothers, Verl Barton, Charlestown, IN, Howard Barton, Montgomery, AL; five sisters, Nell Stephens, Jeffersonville, IN, Dorothy Edwards, Mt. Pleasant, TN, Elaine Fry, Columbia, TN, Violet Boswell, Franklin, TN, Goldie Farrelly, Brentwood, TN; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Rogers Barton; a daughter, Jennifer Power; a brother, Frank Barton; and two sisters, Dezzie Pilkinton and Wayman Bradley.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
