A. W. SMITH Mr. A. W. Smith, age 87, of Donalsonville passed away at his residence on Friday, August 31, 2007. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 2, 2007, at 3:30 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church in Jakin with Rev. Fred Odom officiating. Mr. Smith was born in Henry County, AL, on February 25, 1920, to the late Charlie and Cora Lee Adams Smith. He was a farmer and a member of Springfield Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 68 years, Ruth Smith, Donalsonville; his son, Larry Smith, Donalsonville; three daughters, Marilyn (Doug) Sowell of Columbia, AL, Helen (Buck) Turner of Ozark, AL, and Karen (Billy) Kimbrel, Colquitt; one brother, Billy Smith of Nashville; and two sisters, Altha Barber of Jakin and Robbie Kesler of Atlanta. Seven grandchildren, Teri Ward, Tucker (Rhonda) Smith, Tracy Smith, Chad (Becky) Higginbotham, Amy (Bruce) Hume, Suzanne (Jackson) Erp, and Desiree (Mike) Haseldon; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Bailey Troyer, Quint Hume, Karson Erp, Morgan Erp, Emma Haseldon, and Acea Haseldon. He is also survived by two special nieces, Rita S.(George) Bowen of Donalsonville, and Joann Davis of Auburndale, FL, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Tucker Smith, Tracy Smith, Chad Higginbotham, David Barber, Mitch Smith, Jeff Smith and George Bowen. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Springfield Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Greg Smith, and a granddaughter, DeeDee Smith. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. | |||||
