The Southwest Georgia Lady Warriors' softball team brought home the Silver Division 1st place trophy Saturday, August 25, (or really Sunday, August 26). The final game did not end until after midnight with the Lady Warriors defeating the Citizens' Christian Academy, 11-5.

The Trinity Christian School Slugfest Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament began Friday night in Dublin at Southern Pines Regional Park. Teams participating were Trinity Christian School A, Trinity Christian School B, Bulloch Academy, Brentwood School, Southwest Georgia Academy, Briarwood Academy, Citizens Christian Academy, Robert Toombs Christian Academy, David Emanuel Academy, Crisp Academy, and Gatewood Schools.

The Lady Warriors started the tournament Friday losing to Crisp Academy, 8-6. The Lady Warriors fought hard in the third inning, batting around to come back from behind, 8-0, to 8-6. There was a time limit on Friday's games, so the Warriors did not have their last chance to bat.

The Warriors played Trinity Christian School next, losing 4-0. This team won the Gold Division Championship Saturday.

After Friday's warm-up games, teams were placed in Gold and Silver brackets. SGA was in the silver bracket, beginning the tournament competition against the CCA Patriots Saturday morning. SGA came out the winners with a score of 11-7.

The next game started at 2:00 p.m. with the Warriors defeating Gatewood Lady Gators, 11-1. This game lasted almost three hours because of lightning delays.

The third game and supposedly the final championship game which was scheduled at 6:00 p.m. was delayed because of the lightning until 8:30. This was a double elimination tournament. The Lady Warriors were defeated 12-1 by the CCA Patriots. This was SGA's first loss, so they had to turn around and play CCA again for the championship. The Lady Warriors got back up and had their bats swinging, winning 11-5. It was a long day for the Lady Warriors and their fans, but everyone was excited when they were presented the first place trophy. CCA placed second.

Brentwood received second place in the Gold Division.

Members of the Lady Warriors team are Ashley Tedder, Brooke Ricketson, Laura Leigh Bell, Kimber Henley, Joanna Richardson, Megan Bowen, Jana Sizemore, Michaelyn Newberry, Laken Hudson, Abby Tedder, Danielle Powell, Kyndal Andrews, Bethany Bodrey, Brooke Hornsby, Heather Grebel, Morgan Hilton, and Bailey Ponder. Coaches for the Warriors are Tommy Manry and Jo Kimbrel.
