Whitley named lead mentor teacher

Melissa K. Whitley has been nominated lead mentor teacher for Miller County Elementary School for the year 2007-2008. She will begin her training in January at Georgia State University in Atlanta. This is truly an honor for this exceptional teacher.
Melissa is presently teaching Pre-K at Miller County Elementary School and is attending Albany State to pursue her master's degree in education.
Her love for teaching started with the Decatur/Grady Head Start, also in Miller County and at Bainbridge College teaching for the excel program as teacher and counselor for several summers. She also loved tutoring after school at New Life Learning Center in Colquitt. Missy truly loves her students, present and past.
Melissa is married to Jesse Whitley, and they have one daughter, Kaitlyn, and two sons, Chris and Zack. She is the daughter of Nell C. Kimbrell and the late James W. Kimbrell. She is the granddaughter of Mary L. Covington and the late Elmer F. Covington. "Congratulations, Missy! We are proud of you!" say family members and friends.
