Drought Disaster areas announced

Athens…Susan D. Holmes, Farm Service Agency State Executive Director for Georgia, announced that effective July 27, 2007, 149 Georgia counties were designated as primary disaster areas due to damages caused by drought that occurred from Jan. 1, 2007, and continuing.

Those counties include Miller, Baker, Seminole and Decatur counties.

Emergency loan applications will be received through March 27, 2008. The objective of the emergency loan program is to provide financial assistance to eligible farmers who sustained qualifying losses and are unable to obtain credit elsewhere at reasonable rates and terms.
