Two moons on August 27 a hoax Last week, we published a news release about seeing two moons at 12:00 am. According to a follow-up release, it is a hoax. We put enough truth in this newspaper to make folks mad at us. If someone stayed up until midnight on Monday August 27, to see this once-ina lifetime event, and it didn't happen, they might get a bit nipped. I was getting ready to photograph this event which was not supposed to happen again until 2287 when the hoax article came in. This story was run in the past edition. It sounded good and had me fooled also: Two moons on 27 August 27th the Whole World is waiting for............. Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August. It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will culminate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am . It will look like the earth has 2 moons. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Share this with your friends as NO ONE ALIVE TODAY will ever see it again. It's still a good story. I might just stay up to see if it really is going to happen. I don't believe I would keep the kids up, since it is a school night. |
