FirstBaptistChurch to begin Capital Fund Program:

On July 15 First Baptist Church elected a leadership team for the "Sowing Seeds of Hope" financial program. The team is Anthony Cobb, campaign coordinator; Renee Spence, campaign secretary; Mary Hudson, campaign communications director; Joanne Holland, campaign commitment director; James Fudge, campaign prayer director; and Frances Bodrey, hospitality and special events director.

The leadership team recommended to the church after the evening service on July 22 that 3 million dollars be set as the goal, with the final results being received in one service in December of 2008.

The estimated cost of the new worship center is a little over 3 million dollars. It is the desire of First Baptist Church to enter the new 777 seat facility debt free. Pastor Marshall explained to the church the need for the new worship center and the plans for the present buildings. Dr. Marshall explained that all present buildings will be utilized. The new building will house the worship center, nursery, preschool, and senior adults. The building will face Main Street but set back on the property to align with other buildings used for Sunday School space. It is our desire to present the gospel to everyone within a 20 mile radius of Colquitt. The new Worship Center will give us the space to double our present worship attendance and reach more people for Christ.
