Dukes promoted to GSP Corporal

Corporal Kyle Duke
State Trooper Kyle R. Duke of the Georgia State Patrol's Donalsonville post was promoted to the rank of corporal on July 16, 2007.

With his new rank, Cpl. Duke serves as assistant post commander under the leadership of Sgt. 1st Class Eddie Edwards, commander of the Donalsonville post, and Sgt. Marc Godby, assistant post commander.

"Kyle has consistently led the Donalsonville post in DUI arrests since he's been here," Sgt. Godby said. "He is an asset to the Department of Public Safety and has been an aggressive state trooper."

Duke, a native of the Faceville community, became a state trooper in 2001 and has served with the Donalsonville post since February 2003. He previously served with GSP Posts in Cartersville, Valdosta, Thomsville, and Albany.

Duke entered law enforcement in 1993, and has also worked with Bainbridge Public Safety, the Decatur County Sheriff's Office,the Gadsden County, FLSheriff's Officeand the Florida Department of Corrections.

Duke has received awards from the Georgia Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), recognizing him for making a high number of arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He has also been nominated for the organization's Officerof the Year award.

He is a member of the GSP's Troop G DUI Task Force, which regularly conducts special patrols in Southwest Georgia seeking to catch drunk drivers and thus prevent serious accidents. He is also a firearms instructor for the State Patrol.

Duke holds an associate's degree in criminal justice from Bainbridge College and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice for Thomas University. He is a member of the Faceville Baptist Church and belongs to the Fraternal Order of Police and the Georgia Police Benevolent Association.
