DOROTHY DEKLE FIX Mrs. Dorothy Dekle Fix, age 91, of Naples, FL, passed away May 12, 2007, at Chateau of Moorings Park in Naples, FL. Graveside services were held Sunday, July 22, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak City Cemetery with Rev. Paul Medley officiating. She was born in Birmingham, AL, the daughter of Lester and Minnie Parker Dekle. She spent most of her childhood in Bainbridge and graduated cum laude from Franklin College in Indiana in 1936, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She later attended Ball State College and received her master's degree in library science from Rutger's University. She taught school in Rossville, GA, and Kokomo, IN, and was a librarian in Chatham, NJ. She was also a selector for children's book with the Elementary School Library Collections of the Bro Dart Foundation for many years. Dorothy volunteered at Naples Community Hospital, Teddy Bear Museum in Moorings Park Chateau, Shadowlawn School and was a co-volunteer of the year in 1955 for the Florida Association of Homes for the Aging. She was a former member of the Naples Cruise Club and Naples Civic Club and the U.S. Power Squadron. She was of Presbyterian faith and a teacher and librarian. She is survived by her husband of 68 years John W. Fix of Naples, FL; a daughter Judi Cwikla of Truckee, CA; two sons John D. (Cynthia) Fix of Huntsville, AL and James E. (Pamela) Fix of Morrilton, AR; best friend Elizabeth Gay of Naples, FL; seven grandsons, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. |
