Fire extinguished fast

Miller County Firemen fight blaze.
A house fire was called in to the Miller County dispatchers at 6:22 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at 656 Old Airport Road, just off of Bellview Road. Firemen, tankers and fire trucks were sent along with law officers and EMS vehicles.

According to the occupant, Melissa A. Sapp, she was cooking when a fire occurred on the stove. She said it got really smoky, and then the fire got hot. She attempted to go back into the house trailer to get a dog, but was unable to find it for the heat and smoke. EMS had cut the power to the house trailer.

When the firemen arrived at 6:35 p.m., the house trailer was totally involved. The firemen had the fire under control at 6:53 p.m. There were 21 volunteer fireman at the scene who extinguished the totally involved house trailer in 13 minutes.

According to the fire report, the incident started in the kitchen from a stove fire. According to the report, the fire caused an almost total loss with the fire and smoke damage. No one was injured in the fire.

The property and house trailer is owned by Joe Pete Heard of Rt. 2, Newton.
