A single accident occurred on SR 45 south early Monday morning at approximately one mile outside the Colquitt City Limits. At 7:05 a.m. the 911 operator first received the call and dispatched the sheriff and police units since the exact location was not known. The operator also dispatched the Colquitt/Miller Co. Volunteer Fire and Rescue and the Miller County EMS.
The accident happened as Mary Christie Wynn, 20, of 5172 Saddle Club Road, Donalsonville, was driving a 1996 Eclipse auto south on SR 45.
Ms. Wynn stated that she had just dropped off someone at their work when some type of animal ran across the road in front of her as she was approaching Drew Floyd Road. Ms. Wynn stated that she snatched the vehicle left to miss the animal. When she hit the left right-of-way, she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle travelled several hundred feet down the ditch, striking several signs, going over a driveway and missing a high power light pole by inches.
The driver of the vehicle received cuts and bruises and was treated at the site and taken to the local hospital emergency room. The baby, Emiley McKayla Scott, 9 months, was not injured in the accident.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt according to Deputy Scott Lawson.
