School starts next week
by MCL staff writer

We hope that the students, teachers and all employees of most of the local and area schools have had a wonderful summer vacation. It's almost over for this year.

For the past two weeks, we have been questioned about when we will get our backto school section out. This is the week that you can read about what your children will need in the next school year. The dress codes are not the same for all schools. The local school dress codes are in this edition. The immunization requirements are not the same as last year. There are lots of required or suggested items the students should have when they come to school that are listed in this edition.

There is a also vast array of other school information in this edition that will make it a keepsake edition all through the year such as telephone numbers and school bus drivers and rules on the buses, the names of principals, teachers and other school personnel. The rules of corporal punishment are included as well. It would be smart to read the policy on absences and excuses.

Miller County schools will start Friday, August 3. According to the 2007-08 school calendar, new employee orientation will be Friday, July 27, and all teachers' pre-planning will be Monday, July 30, through Thursday, August 2.

Southwest Georgia Academy's K-5 orientation will start Thursday, August 2. The first day for SGA students K5-12 will be Thursday, August 9.
