Former Donalsonville parapro arrested Police have arrested a man who has been employed as an aide at PASS Academy and charged him with two counts of enticing a child for immoral purposes. Keaton Larmar Battle, 34, was arrested Friday in Donalsonville and transferred to the Houston County Jail where bond was set at $20,000. He was released on bond Saturday. According to police, Battle was employed at PASS Academy, an alternative learning campus in Dothan, when the incidents occurred. Arrest reports indicate one offense took place May 30 and the other June 19. Dothan Schools Superintendent Dr. Sam Nichols said Battle was employed at PASS Academy as an inschool suspension aide from August of last year until the end of May this year, meaning he would have been employed there at the time of one of the alleged incidents. Dothan Police Lt. David Jay said the victims were male students in their mid-teens. He said the incidents did not take place at PASS Academy. According to Donalsonville Police, Battle turned himself in Friday. A spokesman said he was not employed in Donalsonville or Seminole County. Jay said Battle did not have any prior arrests related to these offenses. Battle was arrested in another case on February 17, 2006, by Donalsonville Police and charged with simple battery. A sixth grade student alleged that on Monday, February 16, at approximately 7 p.m. he was at a recreational basketball game at Rambeau Gymnasium on Adams Avenue with his mother, a coach for one of the basketball teams. The child developed a headache and decided to leave early and walk home, some three blocks away. Battle approached the juvenile in the gym parking lot and made an obscene statement to him. The juvenile refused and reentered the gym, delaying his departure. A short time later, the juvenile walked to his home, hiding from Battle along the way. Battle kept circling the neighborhood in his car, apparently looking for the juvenile. When interviewed by the police the following day, the juvenile advised that during the school year before, Battle had approached another child with the same question. Battle, a native of Donalsonville, graduated from high school in Donalsonville in 1992. He had been employed by the local school system as a paraprofessional and ball coach from July 2002 until his resignation in March 2006. |
