JOSEPH GUY BOYD

Joseph Guy Boyd, 67, of Tifton died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County. Elder Charles Tyson and Herman Griffin officiated with burial at Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County.

Joshua Boyd, Joe Swofford, Sidney Fletcher, Dalon Dotson, Bobby Busbin and Kevin Fazendin served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Busbin, William Dotson, Dave Jacobsen and Robert Busbin.

Mr. Boyd was born on September 3, 1939, in Tifton and was the son of Guy H. Boyd and Ruby Tyson Boyd, both deceased. He was a retired industrial equipment sales person and a self-employed farmer. He had been employed by Dave Jacobsen, American Wire Products, as an office manager for the last 10 years. He was a member of Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, where he served as a deacon. He had lived in Tift County all of his life.

Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Burnell Griffin Boyd of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Allen Joseph and Debra D. Boyd of Tifton; one daughter, Ruby Boyd Swofford of Tifton; one brother and sister in-law, Lonnie H. and Norma C. Boyd of Tifton; and four grandchildren, Suzanne Boyd, Joshua Boyd, Joe Swofford and Jennifer Swofford, all of Tifton.
