BC Continuing Ed to offer Certified Fiber Optics Networking Courses Bainbridge College (BC) Continuing Education, in cooperation with BDI DataLynk of Austin, TX, will offer Basic and Specialist Fiber Optics Networking Technician Courses in August, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Room 416 of the BC Continuing Education Center. Both courses include 75 percent hands-on activities, and their certification exams are given and graded the last day of class. To register call 229-248- 2516 or visit www.bdidatalynk. com and click on school name on the Georgia Page. The $600 tuition for the basic course includes all study materials and consumables. The $575 tuition for the advanced class includes all study materials, consumables and PC-Based Simulated OTDR Software. Certified Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT) Course is Aug. 6 -8. It explores the theory and history of fiber optics data transmission. Instructor Bob Ballard, Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) and CFO Specialist with over 20 years of experience, helps examine and recognize various connector and cable types, and teaches how to design, install, terminate, splice and test fiber optics networks. The class is for anyone wanting to be more familiar with fiber optics networking and its capabilities and those who want to be a CFOT. It is ideal for designers, architects, installers, project managers and RCDDs who need Continuing Education Credits (CEC). This CFOT Class is accredited for BICSI CECs (RCDD 21, Installation 12 and is sanctioned by the Fiber Optics Association (FOA). Advanced Fiber Optics Network Testing & Maintenance (CFOS/T) is Aug. 9-10. It offers a general, easy to understand, approach to fiber optics testing standards. This comprehensive program explains the variety of testing standards, equipment and technological approaches used in fiber network testing and how to choose among them. It explores the spectrum of testing and maintenance of single and multi-mode fiber optics networks and a detailed overview of equipment for testing and maintenance. It offers a detailed study of ANSI/TIA/EIA-526-14A, OTDR fundamentals and uses, OTDR vs. Insertion Loss Testing, Return Loss Testing, and Attenuation testing using the Power Source and Light Meter. It is accredited by BICSI for 14 RCDD CEC and 12 Installation CEC. BDI DataLynk provides standards-based computer network infrastructure training programs.
