Rentz, Calhoun exchange vows

Amanda Jane Calhoun and Kevin Dennis Rentz were united in marriage on May 12, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. at Southwind Plantation in Bainbridge with Elder W. H. Phillips officiating the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Gail and Ernie Grow and Mike and Jan Calhoun, both of Colquitt. She is the granddaughter of Mr. William Drake and the late Myrtle Drake of Donalsonville, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Phillips of Bainbridge and the late Joy Phillips of Albany, the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Calhoun and the late Jewel Bush Calhoun of Colquitt, and Mr. and Mrs. Smiley Grow of Colquitt.
The groom is the son of Dennis and Karla Rentz of Brinson. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Martin of Colquitt and Mr. Marvin Rentz and the late Doris Rentz of Brinson.
The maid of honor was Tamara Grow of Colquitt. The bridesmaids were Leslie Brackin of Mobile, Lacey Delamar of Valdosta, and Missy Williams, sister of the groom, of Colquitt. Junior bridesmaids were BethAnne and Lynleigh Kaye Hall of Colquitt. The bridesmaids wore strapless floor length turquoise blue bunched-bottom style dresses with a silver sash. The bridesmaids carried hand-tied bouquets of spring flowers in pink, blue, orange, yellow, green and red.
The flower girls were Laney Hall and Gracie Williams, niece of the groom, both of Colquitt. The flower girls wore white chiffon tea length dresses. The flower girls carried white with rhinestone accent baskets filled with hot pink and bright yellow rose petals.
Honorary bridesmaids were Jeannie Land of Mc- Donough and Kerry Moore of Madison. The honorary bridesmaids wore black dresses of their choice. They carried a hand-tied mixed bouquet of pink, yellow, and orange gerber daisies.
The best man was the groom's father, Dennis Rentz. Groomsmen were Michael Chesnut, brother of the bride, of Colquitt, Alan Ralph of Athens, and Jon Ralph of Bainbridge. Honorary groomsmen were Garret Franklin of Bainbridge and Shane Trawick of Donalsonville. They each wore black tuxedos accented with white collared shirts and silver vest and tie. They wore boutonnieres of red carnations. The groom's tux was accented by a yellow calla lily.
Serving as ring bearer was Fuller Vallandingham, cousin of the bride, of Leesburg. He also wore the same tuxedo as the groomsmen. He pulled a white wagon that carried a white satin pillow accented with rhinestones.
The bride wore a white satin floor length, A-line dress. The dress featured rhinestones around the top and waist of the dress. The bride wore a radiant rhinestone and pearl tiara, borrowed from close family friend, Mrs. Gladys Grissom. Her veil of silk illusion was adorned with rhinestones. She wore pearl and rhinestone earrings and a pearl bracelet. The bride carried a bouquet of handtied white calla lilies.
The mother of the bride wore a champagne chiffon tea-length dress. The stepmother of the bride wore a green and lavender floral dress. The mother of the groom wore a navy silk twopiece tea length dress. As the mother and grandmothers entered, Mr. Brad Burke played a medley of wedding songs followed by the song "Parent's Prayer" performed by Mrs. Rebecca Grow.
The wedding party entered the beautiful garden setting at Southwind Plantation as Mr. Burke played "Cannon in D." Amanda and her father entered through a beautifully decorated garden arch. The ceremony took place among flowers, ferns, and trees overlooking a beautiful, serene pond. After the exchange of vows and rings, Jonathan Grow played the guitar and sang "I Cross My Heart." A blessing of the couple was given and then the couple marched out to Stevie Wonder's "Signed. Sealed and Delivered."
Mrs. Kayla Calhoun kept the bridal registry. Mrs. Amanda Long, Mrs. Tomi Lynn Heard and Mrs. Debra Bryan used their talents to create the beautiful garden wedding setting and flower decorations that adorned the lodge. Mrs. Jo Davis orchestrated the wedding event.
The reception was held at the plantation site. Tables were covered with white tablecloths and adorned with centerpieces of spring bouquets designed by Mrs. Bryan and Mrs. Heard. A southern meal of smoked pork, green beans, potatoes and pasta were prepared by Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Grow. Southern Caterers provided the bride's cake, groom's cake, and finger foods.
Guests were entertained and danced to music by "The Generator" on the lodge deck overlooking the pond.
The couple left on a Georgia Bulldog car, provided by family friend, Mr. Jerry Grimsley. After honeymooning in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, at The Sandals Grand Beach and Villas Resort, the couple is now living in Brinson.
Rehearsal Dinner
The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner on the eve of the wedding at Southwind Plantation in Bainbridge. The lodge was beautifully decorated with floral arrangements designed by Mrs. Bryan and Mrs. Heard.
A delicious southern meal of fried chicken, pork loin, butterbeans, squash casserole, and mashed potatoes, along with red velvet cake and peach cobbler was served by Southern Caterers.
Bridesmaid's Luncheon
A bridesmaid's luncheon was held on Saturday, May 5, at Southern Temptations in Webb, Alabama. The guests enjoyed a delicious chicken salad casserole with fruit and raspberry cream cheese sconces along with raspberry tea.
The bride-to-be presented gifts to her attendants for celebrating this special occasion with her.
Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Debra Calhoun, Ms. Debra Jones, Mrs. Joanne Holland, Mrs. Jennifer Garland, Mrs. Esther Cleveland and Mrs. Cindy Mann. The hostesses presented Amanda with a gift of Lady Anne Signature crystal stemware.
