Wildlife Biologist visits MCES

Sydney Thomas holds one of the samples of grass
Mr. Jonathan Stober, a wildlife biologist with Jones Ecological Research Center at Ichuway, recently spoke with MCES Discovery students about ways to protect ecosystems.

He spoke specifically about plants and animals in this area.

Mr. Stober brought samples of the native wiregrass and sassafras plants, and a man-made cavity for the endangered redcockaded woodpecker.

The students enjoyed learning about ways to protect ecosystems, such as prescribed burning of forests and water conservation. The students were also introduced to career opportunities within this field of study.

Mrs. Becky LaGuardia and her students would like to thank Mr. Stober for sharing his expertise and love for wildlife preservation with them.
