LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTS Vehicle Accident On Sunday, May 20, 2007, David M. Fretwell of Statesboro slowed down at the yield sign at 91 South and Highway 27. Brent J. Enfinger of Ole Mills Acres in Colquitt was traveling in the same direction. Enfinger failed to slow at the yield sign and hit the back bumper of Fretwell's car with his front. Enfinger was following too closely was the reason for the collision. No citations were issued. Officer Hollis Smith was the investigating officer. On Friday, May 18, 2007 Mildred Elaine Moten of Colquitt was stopped in the parking lot at Barnard's. Christopher Lewis Holmes of Fort Lauderdale, FL, was backing up and did not see Moten and sideswiped her vehicle causing slight damage. Holmes was found at fault. Officer Dan Stone was the investigating officer. Disorderly Conduct On Saturday, May 19, 2007, Officer Hollis Smith was called to Dancer Street in reference to a black male dragging a white female down the street. On the officer's arrival, along with deputies from the Miller County Sherriff's office, they found the male and female standing in the yard. After speaking with both parties, Eddie Newton (the male) went inside the home and made Charity Sanders (the female) leave with him. Mr. Newton slapped Ms. Sanders across the face when doing this leaving a hand print. Mr. Newton was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and booked at the Miller County Sheriff's Office. Officer Hollis Smith was the investigating officer. Lost Cell Phone On Wednesday, May 23, 2007, Johnny Branch of Damascus reported he had lost his cell phone. The Verizon large cell phone was valued at $100.00. Captain Dan Stone was the reporting officer. Damage to Property On Thursday, May 24, 2007, Officer Christopher Medina was dispatched to the sheriff's office in reference to damage to property. When the officer arrived on the scene, he spoke with the complainant, Justin Young, who advised that the suspect, Cedrick Clark, had jumped onto the back of his 1998 Nissan Altima and then jumped onto the roof of the car, denting in the roof. Upon speaking with Cedrick, he advised that he was wrestling with his cousin who threw him onto the car causing the damage. |
