LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTS Arrests On May 13, 2007, Daniel Cleveland Burke of Brinson was charged with simple battery. Robert Grier was the reporting officer. (Possession of Marijuana) On May 10, 2007, Love Stovall of Damascus was charged with possession, manufacturing, distributing, etc. vcgs. The reporting officer was Terry Williams. William Monroe Johnson of Colquitt was charged with possession, manufacturing, distributing, etc. vcgs. The reporting officer was Ben Nix. Vehicle Accident On May 19, Randal Earl Curles of Colquitt was exiting a back yard following Barbara Michael Wells of Bainbridge. Wells was exiting the yard while Curles was following the vehicle. Curles pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. This caused his vehicle to strike Wells' vehicle in the left rear end with his right front bumper. Moderate damage was caused to both vehicles. Officer Dale Glover was in the investigating officer. Stolen Identity On May 17, 2007 Horace Earl Brown made contact with the Miller County Sheriff's Office in reference to possible identity fraud. Brown had two business letters with him and stated he believed someone had stolen his identity. Brown stated this had been going on for about a year and a half. Brown had been receiving letters from two different companies with business offers for him. One of the letters was addressed to a Joanna A. Elrod with Brown's address on the front and the other was addressed to a Charles B. Elrod, also with Brown's address on the front. Brown stated that he is constantly receiving phone calls from different organizations that he has never had contact with. Brown also was advised at the Bainbridge Wal- Mart that the offenders had bought tires and used his address and phone number to give the associates. As of now Brown has checked with his bank and they are monitoring his account and to his knowledge, no one has received funds from his account. The reporting officer was Brad Cox. Gas Drive-Off On May 15, 2007, Jessica Gaskins at 3C Oil Company reported a gas drive-off. The complainant stated that an older white male pumped $68.05 in farm diesel fuel and left the station without paying. She stated he left heading south on Hwy. 27. The area was searched with negative results for a new red Ford truck with an unknown tag. The investigating officer was Dan Stone. On May 15, 2007, Randy Everson of Colquitt came to the police department and advised that the window control panel out of his 1990 Lexus 400 SL was stolen out of the car. Mr. Everson advised that he had the vehicle sitting on Crawford Street to sell it. The case was turned over to Investigator Wells. (DUI) On May 14, 2007, a two vehicle accident happened at Farmers Ave. and Pine St. After speaking with the occupant, Barbara Ann Cherry, the officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol on Mrs. Cherry. Capt. Dan Stone arrived to assist with the accident. While Hollis Smith was talking to the other vehicle owner, Mr. Phillips, about what happened. Capt. Stone did a field test on Mrs. Cherry, and it showed positive for alcohol. She was read her rights and placed under arrest and charged with DUI and booked at the Miller County Jail. |
