Baccalaureate service heldat Colquitt UMC

Members of the MCHS and SGA Classes of 2007 who participated in the baccalaureate service Sunday, May 20
The Miller County Ministerial Association honored the participating seniors of Miller County High School and Southwest Georgia Academy at the annual baccalaureate service. The service was held at Colquitt United Methodist Church Sunday, May 20, at 6:00 p.m.

A packed sanctuary was waiting for the Class of 2007 as the graduates marched in to "Pomp and Circumstance," played by Mrs. Sara Ann Keaton.

The invocation was given by Joy Jones, MCHS senior class member, followed by the welcome by the Rev. Mike Schultz, president of the Miller County Ministerial Association and pastor of Mother's Home Free Will Baptist Church.

The senior ensemble, consisting of Kathgret Rentz, Heather Butler, Colby Widner, Emily Tomberlin, Josh Rathel, Chris Lane and Brittany O'Berry, along with band member, Deanna Mason, performed under the direction of Miller County High School band director, Richard Horne.

Next the Rev. Benjamin Miller, pastor of New Home Free Will Baptist Church, introduced the speaker for this year's baccalaureate service, the Rev. Damien Salazar. The young preacher offered a very inspiring address to the Class of 2007 that touched its members as well as the rest of the audience.

The Rev. Walter Daniels ended the program with the benediction, and the seniors marched out to "War March of the Priest" by Mendelson, also played by Mrs. Keaton.

A reception to honor the graduates followed the service, where everyone enjoyed a time of congratulations and picture-taking while sampling the delicious finger foods and punch. The church fellowship hall was attractively decorated for the occasion with graduation ceiling art of caps and diplomas, and a large central arrangement of mixed flowers accented the serving table. Women of Colquitt United Methodist Church were in charge of refreshments.
