Poster contest winners

In celebration of Soil Stewardship Week, the Flint River Soil & Water Conservation District sponsored a Conservation Poster Contest. The theme for this year was "Today Is The Day To Be Part of Conservation's Power." The contest was open to all fifth graders attending schools within the district, and winners were chosen from each county as well as an overall district winner.

Crystal Holt, science teacher at MCES, submitted entries from several of her students. The results were as follows: first place ($25) - Jeribeth Pickren; second place ($15) - Samantha Ricks; third place ($10) - Tramara Lee and honorable mention - Mallory Diamond, Macey Givens, Haley Grier and Kongaydra Williams. Prize money was awarded by Flint River District Supervisor, Billy Roland and Debbie Henry, NRCS. Jeribeth was also chosen as the district winner and received an additional $75, and her poster will be sent on to the state competition.
