LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTS (THEFT BY TAKING) On May 9, 2007, Deputy Ken Kirkland responded to Highway 91 North in reference to a theft. He spoke with Eli Phillips who stated that he noticed a red Honda 50 Motorcycle and a blue Kazuma 50 Four Wheeler missing from his shed. Phillips contacted his wife and questioned her before he called the SO. Footprints and tire tracks were found and photographed by Chief Deputy Terry Williams, whom the case was turned over to. (ARRESTS) Love Stovall of Damascus was charged with possession/ manufacturing/ distribution of a controlled substance and probation violation. Jody M. Talley of Colquitt was charged with two counts of simple battery/family violence. (VEHICLE ACCIDENT) Henry Earl Cook III of Colquitt was traveling northbound on Kelly Road just north of St. Paul Church Rd. As Cook came around a curve, he met Donnell Cox traveling southbound on Kelly Rd. Cook manuvered toward the northbound shoulder of Kelly Rd. to avoid a collision and was pulled into the ditch by thick sandbeds. Cook's vehicle never made contact with Cox's vehicle. Deputy Brad Cox was the reporting officer. (VEHICLE ACCIDENT) Willie James Wilson of Blakely was traveling west, turning a curve. Wilson met Stanley Tyner Jr. of Blakely, who was was traveling east. Wilson was entering into the curve and didn't allow enough room for Tyner to pass by. Wilson tried to adjust, but was unable to avoid colliding with Tyner. Tyner stated he tried to make enough room for Wilson to pass, but couldn't without going into the ditch. Deputy Robert Grier was the reporting officer. (DISORDERLY CONDUCT) On May 9, 2007, Officer Lonnie Wade was dispatched to South Third Street in reference to a domestic dispute. Upon his arrival, he spoke with Tiffany Jackson of Colquitt, whose statements were taken. The violator, Jasper Ernest Jackson of Colquitt was placed under arrest and transported to the Miller County Jail. (VEHICLE ACCIDENT) Marguerite D. Smith of Colquitt stated that she stopped and looked and didn't look back and pulled out, causing her vehicle to strike Ricky A. Roberts' vehicle. Roberts stated that he was traveling south on Cuthbert Street and Smith pulled out onto Cuthbert St. from Geer and struck his vehicle. Officer Hollis Smith was the reporting officer. (DAMAGE TO PROPERTY) On May 8, 2007, Deputy Ken Kirkland responded to Betty Sue Redding's house in reference to damage to property. She stated that she heard a loud noise and noticed a 12 inch spike sticking out of the back of her car. Redding stated that her neighbor had a mowing crew over and it's a possibility the nail was thrown from a mower. |
