Horne Receives Law Degree from Florida State

Jami Lewis Horne, a 2001 graduate of Southwest Georgia Academy in Damascus, received her Juris Doctorate from The Florida State University College of Law on Saturday, May 5th, during a ceremony at the Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center. The ceremony was followed by a reception on the law school green. Before entering law school, Jami graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia in May 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in social science education.
As a law student, Jami worked as a law clerk for the superior court judges of the South Georgia Circuit in Cairo and with the district attorney's office of the Southern Judicial Circuit in Valdosta. She also worked as a fundraiser with the FSU College of Law Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
Jami currently resides in Thomasville, Georgia, with her husband Jeremiah Horne. She plans to sit for the Georgia bar in July of this year and the Florida bar in July 2008, and will practice real estate, construction, and family law upon passing the bar exam. Jami is the daughter of Marianne Melton and Mickey Lewis, both of Damascus. She is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Hinton Merritt of Colquitt, and Mr. and the late Mrs. Billy Lewis of Damascus.
