LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTS (LOST CELL PHONE) On May 2, 2007, Joann Kimbel of Colquitt came to the Sheriff's Office and reported that she lost her cell phone. Kimbel stated that while at Pic-N-Sav, she was talking on her phone before she entered the store and noticed it was missing when she returned to her vehicle. Sgt. Kenny Kirkland was the reporting officer. (LOST CELL PHONE) On May 1, 2007, Vicky Thornton of Colquitt came to the Police Department and reported that she lost her cell phone. Thornton was unsure of the exact location because she had visited several locations within the city limits. Sgt. Kenny Kirkland was the reporting officer. ( P O S S E S S I O N O F MARIJUANA) On May 4, 2007, Officer Lonnie Wade got a tip on possible drug activity involving a vehicle around Ron-Cam. The officer went to the location and saw a vehicle fitting the description given traveling north on Fourth Street. The officer stopped said vehicle close to Perry St. with Sgt. Kirkland as a back-up unit. They were given consent by the driver, Chaddrick O'Neal Baker, of Colquitt, to search the vehicle. Assistant Chief Jason Wells arrived and helped with the search. A.C. Wells located possible marijuana behind the radio area, and it was seized as evidence. Baker was transported to the county jail. (LARCENY-BICYCLE) On May 4, 2007, Megan Whitaker of Colquitt reported to Chief Scott Worsley that someone had stolen a woman's bicycle, v a l u e d a p p r o x i m a t e l y $100. ( D R I V I N G W I T H SUSPENDED LICENSE) On May 6, 2007, Officer Christopher M. Medina was patrolling and saw Brandon Bush of Colquitt driving a 2000 Hyundai Elantra. The officer ran the tag through GCIC, and it came back as expired as of April, 19, 2007. Officer Medina pulled the vehicle over and ran Bush's license, which came back suspended due to serious violations under 21 years of age. Bush was arrested for driving while license suspended. (VEHICLE ACCIDENT) Eddie James Leary of Arabi was traveling west on Crawford Street in a 2006 Mack Tractor, pulling a mobile home. A tire came off of an axle of the mobile home and struck two vehicles parked in a used car park, damaging them both. Sgt. Kenny Kirkland was the reporting officer. (VEHICLE ACCIDENT) Melissa Perez of Colquitt left the parking lot of Kangaroo Express and drove onto Crawford St. She made a right turn onto Fourth St. and snatched the wheel to avoid a pedestrian on a bicycle, then ran through the metal guard posts on the north side of Fourth St. and ended in the ditch off the roadway. (VEHICLE ACCIDENT) Loretta Allen Gordon of Colquitt was backing northerly from parking. Billy Felton Green of Colquitt was traveling east through the parking lot. Gordon backed into Green, causing damage to both vehicles. Sgt. Kenneth Kirkland was the reporting officer. (OBSTRUCTION OF OFFICERS) On May 1, 2007, Officer Ben Nix was assisting Sgt. Dale Glover of the Miller County Sheriff's Office in vehicle search. Officer Nix, Captain Shane Rathel and Ken Kirkland were out with K-9 Sgt. Dale Glover and were standing by while he searched the vehicle. Terrill Patterson pulled up behind the patrol units and began yelling that the officers couldn't search the vehicle without consent because he wasn't the owner of the vehicle. Patterson continued to yell and got into his vehicle, pulled up beside the patrol units and blocked traffic on Highway 91 and continued to yell out the window at Captain Rathel. Patterson was arrested for obstruction of an officer by Investigator Nix for failure to obey a lawful order and obstructing deputies from their duties. (VEHICLE ACCIDENT) On 29 April, 2007, Troy P a r r i s To m m s J r. o f Colquitt was traveling north on Highway 45 north of Colquitt when a deer ran into the path of the vehicle. Tomms tried to avoid the animal by steering to the right, but was unable to miss the deer. It struck the left front fender, causing damage to the fender and hood, left front headlight. (VEHICLE ACCIDENT) Diane G. Clinton of Colquitt was traveling west on Whites Bridge Rd. when a deer came from a field, running in front of the car causing minor damage to the front side and fender and passenger door/ undercarriage. Investigator Terry Williams was the reporting officer. (VEHICLE ACCIDENT) Siddharth Sonarikar, of Murfreesboro, TN, was traveling west on Mayhaw Rd. A group of deer ran into the roadway and ran into the driver's side of the vehicle. Officer Dale Glover was the reporting officer. |
