Fish, fish and more fish

I just caught this one!
The annual Miller County Fishing Rodeo was held Saturday, May 5, at Haywood Pond. There were approximately 85 people attending with 48 children enjoying the day.

Bo and Kim Haywood stated, "God granted us a beautiful day, filled with plenty of sunshine, a light breeze, children's laughter, and fish, fish, and more fish."

The avid fisher boys and girls caught plenty of fish with a total count of 683, which consisted of catfish, bream and bass. The largest fish caught Saturday weighed approximately three pounds and was caught by five-year-old Brycen Curles.

This year there were four age groups: up to age five - Danielle Sheffield, Terri- Quan Ray, Bennett Johnson, Preston Johnson, Brittany Boyd, Lyla Harrell, Matthew Meredith, Brycen Curles, Cole Shiver, Hadley Shiver, Kaylee Norman, John Robert Taylor, Abigail Taylor, and Savannah Sweeney; ages six to eight - Hayes Cleveland, Kajuan'Jay Newton, Jacquira Hopson, Reid Darley, Josh Roland, Austin Phillips, Lacey Simmons, Nichols Porter, and Eli Cook; ages nine to 12 - Jamaree Hopson, Todd Cook, Grayson Heard, Collin Ward, Abi Cunningham, Logan Harrell, Layton Harrell, Timothy Henry, Gabriel Wilson, Trevontii Barber, Lily Houston, Baylee Everson, Brooklyn Enfinger, Kyle Simmons, Jacob Porter, Cody Strosnider, Andrew Alday, Benjamin Alday, and Jake Warren; ages 13 to 16 - Diamond Williams, Mykenya Cumbee, Daniel Allen, Blake Temples, Kaitlyn Warren and Colt Calhoun.

I caught a big one!
The overall age group winners for catching the most fish in the up to five group were Kaylee Norman, first place; Brittany Boyd, second place; and Cole Shiver, third place.

For the six-to-eight age category, winners were Josh Roland, first place; Austin Phillips, second place; and Jacquira Hopson, third place while nine-to-12 age top fishermen were Grayson Heard and Collin Ward, first place; Todd Cook and Jake Warren, second place; and Abi Cunningham, Logan Harrell, and Layton Harrell, third place.

In the 13-to-16 group, Daniel Allen took first place; Blake Temples, second place; and Colt Calhoun, third place.

The Haywoods would like to thank all the parents for bringing their children out to enjoy this event which they hope will continue for many years.
