The Colquitt Garden Club held its last meeting of the season on Wednesday, May 2, at the beautiful home of Wanda and John Martin, located on the golf course.
After Lola Godfrey read the Collect, the meeting was called to order by President Iva Tabb. After Iva welcomed three members, Connie Tibbedeaux, Linda Addison and Ocher Trively, she requested all members to suggest ideas for programs for next year and to forward ideas to the program committee.
A brief skit entitled, "Conversation between God and St. Francis of Assissi, was given by Wattie Hays, Iva Tabb, and Connie Tibbedeaux.
Members provided an array of delicious and beautifully prepared foods that were served buffet style from the Martins' kitchen.
The hostess had prepared a few tables in the living room, and other tables were placed on the terrace and lawn, shaded by colorful umbrellas. Other seating facilities were provided by brightly colored chairs and swing near an improvised and enclosed platform joined to a huge oak tree.
After lunch, each guest was given a hand-made fan, designed and created by the hostess and Lola Godfrey. On the back of each fan was a number. Lucky numbers were drawn and received a prize. Prizes consisted of plants, sun hats, lawn ornaments, etc.
Twenty-six members attending thanked Wanda and John for providing such a beautiful setting for the last meeting until September.
