ELZIE CLENNEY

Elzie Clenney, 93, of Tallahassee, FL, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, FL.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 11, at 3:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed James officiating. Interment followed in Oak City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Lambert, Terry Lambert, Jeff Simpson, Calvin Kelly, Michael Clinton and Charlie Earl Clinton Jr.

Mr. Clenney was born August 28, 1913, in Miller County and lived in Bainbridge until 1954, when he moved to Tallahassee where he had lived ever since. He was a painter and a member of Aenon Baptist Church. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII, serving with the rank of staff sergeant, and he was also a past member of VFW Post 4904. He loved to garden and fish.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha Ann Clinton Clenney; five daughters, Barbara Ann (Winston) Zorn of Donalsonville, Marlen L. (Gerald) Childers of Tallahassee, FL, Brenda Clenney of Woodville, FL, Cynthia (Wendell) Miller of Crawfordville, FL, and Amy (Jason) Rooks of Tallahassee, FL; one son, Frankie Lee Clenney of Bronson, FL; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Benjamin and Betty Grimes Clenney, and two sons, Steve Clenney and Robert Clenney.

Cox Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
