On Friday, March 16, at the Exchange Club Fair clubhouse, seven scholarship recipients were recognized and awarded checks in the amount of $500.00 each by the Exchange Club Fair of Southwest Georgia.
Hundreds of senior livestock exhibitors who participated in the Albany Fair livestock show back in November were eligible to apply for these available scholarships. Exchange Club Fair judges declared at the awards luncheon that the applications submitted this year were outstanding, making it very difficult to choose seven winners. Among those winners who were recognized was Heather Butler, a senior student at Miller County High School. Heather was congratulated for her accomplishments as a swine exhibitor and awarded a $500 check by Exchange Club Fair Livestock Chairman, Wendell L. "Butch" Griffin. Mr. Griffin stated, "We are honored that you have participated in our program for many years; good luck to you in the future as you further your education."
Heather gave a brief statement about her future plans concerning her education before everyone in attendance at the luncheon.
