Food Drive at MCES

The fifth graders (approximately 90 students) at MCES have been collecting cans and other non-perishable goods this week for a Colquitt family that is in need due to a sudden, almost fatal family illness. When I told my classes about the project on Monday, I never thought we would end on Friday with 753 items- 9 boxes packed full to be exact!

The power kids can have never ceases to amaze me! I am so very proud of them. They looked beyond their own desires to help out neighbors that most of them probably don't even know. So many of these kids come from families that are barely making endsmeet themselves, but yet they found it in their hearts to give. I know that the family receiving the items will never forget the kindness and generosity shown to them by these kids and their families. I'm proud to be able to call Colquitt my home and MCES my school. Here at MCES, the fifth grade faculty and staff are not only supplying students with tools for future academic success, but they are also giving them a strong work-ethic and a great foundation to build their life upon.
