Jennifer Thompson We have a new family in Colquitt and asked them to let us know them better. They are world travelers for Jesus Christ and have increased our population here in Colquitt. Here are just a few words from David:

Hello, Miller County!

I would like to take an opportunity to introduce myself and my family to the Miller County community. I am Rev. David Thompson, the new pastor of the Colquitt United Methodist Church. My wife is Rev. Jennifer Thompson, and together we have three children: Lydia who is 10 years old and Benjamin and Luke who are our six-year-old fraternal twins.

Our family has been serving for the last eight years with the Mission Society for United Methodists working throughout Latin America. For our first missionary term, we lived and served in Costa Rica and Peru. For our second missionary term we have been based out of Atlanta serving in eight countries: Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica, Peru, Paraguay, Venezuela, Ecuador, and the South-Eastern Jurisdiction of the Methodist Church in the United States.

We have had a ministry training 400 Latin American pastors in those eight countries. Those 400+ pastors have outreaches and churches in a total of 12 Latin American countries and among four indigenous people groups of Latin America. What a blessing to have been involved in a ministry reaching people with the Gospel message for the very first time.

Jennifer also has an economic development ministry among the poor women of the Methodist Church of Peru which she will continue. She has taught and trained the women there to smock and sew girls' dresses. Those dresses are brought back to the states by short-term mission team and sold here through women's groups in church. One hundred percent of the sale of the dresses goes back to the impoverished women in Peru so that they can support their families who are in ministry.

We are excited about our new ministry here at Colquitt United Methodist Church. We are likewise glad to be back in southwest Georgia. Prior to our service with the Mission Society, we served in Americus where Jennifer and I were both on staff together at Americus First United Methodist Church for six years. Jennifer and I have been in service to the Lord for over 20 years each, and we have been blessed to see Jesus change and transform people all over the world by His grace.

We hope to get to know many of you in Colquitt in the days and months to come. If you aren't actively involved in a church family now, I'd like to invite you to come visit with us at Colquitt United Methodist Church! Come experience that grace of Jesus Christ with us as we grow together! Yours...and His, Rev. David Thompson Colquitt United Methodist Church
