Large drug seizure in county

On Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Pataula Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 36 Griffin-Sheffield Road in Miller County, at the residence of Freddie Grant Jr. and Vera M. Bridley.

The Pataula Drug Task Force executed the search warrant after a two-week undercover investigation on drug activity being conducted at this location.

Upon arrival at the residence, Task Force agents and Miller County Sheriff's deputies noted Freddie Grant Jr. in the yard of the residence. The agents and deputies noted Grant throwing items into the bushes located next to the residence.

After a brief foot chase, Grant was taken into custody and searched. A small amount of contraband and currency was located on Grant's person. A search of the residence and the property was conducted by agents and Miller County deputies. A large amount of crack cocaine and marijuana were located by Pataula Task Force agents and sheriff's deputies participating in the search warrant. Drug paraphernalia was also located in the residence.

Grant and Bridley were arrested and charged on violations of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.
